3.4 swap with 1997 transmission

ok so i gathered all the parts for my swap. i have a 92 4runner 4x4 with the A340h transmission. while waiting for a final part, my transmission decided to go out on me. i dont have the money to rebuild it, but i found a killer deal on an automatic transmission from a 97 4runner. it is just the transmission. my donor engine is from a 96 4runner. will my ecu from the donor engine match this transmission if they were both auto 4x4? also, what extra parts will be needed now. i know i will need an adapter plate for the xfer case and a 23 spline xfer case i think. will i need to change my drive shafts at all? thanks for any info.

I am pretty sure that the 340f from the 97 runner would work with the correct ECM.

I am not 100% but I can't see why not.

I have the an ECM from a 97 runner, auto, 4x4 that should work. If you interested, send me a pm.

As far as the driveshafts, I am not sure if you'll have the modify them. If you can find spec on both, you can e-measure.

ok so doing more research and all i can find is the marlin crawler adapter plate that leads to a mechanical dual transfer case. i dont really think i want to have a crawler or any low gears for that matter. this will be my daily driver so i dont want to affect the on road driving too much or the gas mileage. anyone know if there is any other transfer cases that will attach to this adapter plate? if so, any ideas on what will be needed as far as drive shafts go? im sure the info is on here but i cant seem to find it.

You could add the marlin adapter to the 340f transmission with no problem. You would have to change the input gear to a 23 spine. You don't have to add another case to make duals, and you could run the stock 2.28 gears.

ok now im kind of confused. does the adapter plate go between the integrated transfer case and the transmission? or does it hook up to the integrated transfer case and you add another 23 spline behind that? also, i was looking around some more and saw that people say that lucas stop slip can be bad for your transmission... would it be more than coincidence that i put some in about 2 days before it messed up because i didnt have any atf around after doing my radiator? i didnt use a lot, and i checked the level, but maybe i added too much? could too much fluid cause the transmission to not engage and pretty much act like it was in neutral? i have a filter and fluid now because i was going to change it but then it started messing up and i didnt want to waste it on a bad transmission if i had to replace it.

ok so i looked at the level again. the reason why it was so hard to see, was because it was way too full. i didnt have time to drain the pan and change the filter, so i undid the cooler hose and started the engine for about 20 seconds. is the pump supposed to pump an even amount, or a speratic pumping that shots out a lot then slows down. almost like its pumping air. also, the fluid looked clean while dripping but once on my hand it looks darker. does slightly dark mean it is burnt? it is still red, just a darker red, but still see through.
