I recently started working again on my 3.4 swap into my 1991 toyota pickup, and i am looking for a place to get a conversion p/s line to use the 3.4l pump with the 22re p/s box. i noticed that offroad solutions closed permanently so i was wondering if there is still a way to get parts from them or if their is another company that makes one.

Intersting you ask.... I will forward this request onto a friend of theirs who is in contact with them... they might have something. It sucks ORS had to close doors But I know Mike (as well as a good friend of his... Brian... even better). We know they will continue to do wiring harnesses, but as far as the other stuff I am not sure...

yes i will thank you. i just started working on this swap again and it has been sitting for awhile now so things are everywhere. i have the motor mounted and i just have to wire it and plumb it. so if you have any suggestions to make my life easier that would be greatly appreciated.

I don't think that the line would be a big deal, you can get a custom hydraulic line made up at any hydraulic supply store, the mounting of the pump to the passenger side of the motor, relocating the reservoir to the passenger side and the belt (the 22r pump having the wrong style pulley) were the three biggest reasons that I ended up using a 3.4 pump. I am sure there are ways to overcome these obstacles but I didn't care to go to all of that trouble for a 50 dollar eBay pump

Not to mention the lines on the wrong side of the pump when it is mounted on the passenger side of the motor

I think you're right about the line Jason... But what is the PIS needed in that line. I'm not sure. Don't spend extra money on a higher PSI line (Like a brake line extension) Luka unless you need too...

I am also looking for a set of headers for a good price. I was looking for Downey preferably but cant find a good place to but them. Any suggestions??

i am looking for the PSI specifications that the P/S line should to be to convert the 5vz-fe P/S pump to work with the 22re P/S box. Any suggestions?

You guys know that you can use the 3.0 p/s lines for this swap. The 3.0 lines connect to the 3.4 pump and also connect to the 22re steering box. Just need a custom fitting made for the high pressure side of the 3.0 p/s line.

I cut the 3.4 & 3.0 high pressure lines in the middle of the hardlines, machined a splice and welded them together.

I still have the custom PS hose that came with the ORS kit (3.4 pump/3.0 box) that I'd like to sell real cheap. If anyone is interested, pm me.

Will the conversion line work with the 22re box?

According to premirrider, the 3.0 line will connect to the 22re box and I also don't see why Toyota would use a different size fitting on 3.0 & 22 boxes. I can post a picture of the ORS line with dimensions of the steering box fitting and maybe someone else who knows for sure can chime in.

The fittings are the same on both ends (16MM x 1.5) and ORS only made two conversion lines, with ABS and without.

The line I have is for non-ABS. If your truck does not have ABS, then this line should work for you.

I have a 1986 4runner 22re with a blown head gasket...now as much as i love the 22re this blown head gasket has pushed me to finally do a motor swap.
I want to do the 3.4 I have a complete engine and 5 speed transmission ready to go. I just need to know about the wiring i have no idea what that entails... any ideas or thoughts?

It's a lot of work but so much fun to drive a 3.4 powered truck.

I used a stock replacement 88 3.0 non ABS hose on my swap. Had to tweek the hard line portion to put it where exactly where I wanted it. Also had to use the 3.0 pump banjo bolt. I just shortened an extra 3.4 banjo bolt I had. I no longer have a free site to post pics from but I posted plenty in the 3.4 swap section here.


I eventually cut the end of the 3.0 hose off at the pump end and welded on a 3.4 banjo fitting I cut off the donor truck stock hose so I could have the idle up switch function.


You can buy Aeroquip or Russell reusable fittings and a piece of hose and make your own too.


You have numerous options.
