Check for rust, these vehicles are notorious for rusting out. Also since it's the V6, they tend to blow headgaskets. Pull the dipstick and check the oil, if it looks milky tell him no thanks! When you start it up, check for white smoke out of the tailpipe. It's probably not a bad idea to bring a compression tester too. Personally, I would look for one with a 22RE, but that's just me.

If you are interested, I would record the VIN number and call Toyota to see if the head-gasket has been already replaced. Just tell them you are a potential buyer. Other than that, the rust is your worst enemy as Swimmerboy2112 mentioned. Up here in Ontario, my 4Runner sat for over three years before I bought it, every repair except the abused auto-transmission (11 different owners), I've done thus far has been because of rust.

it's totally horrible, you should trade it and then sell it to me... ha!
just kidding.
the 5 speed is a nice find, took forever to find ours. if it's anything close to my 93 I doubt you will have too many issues unless there is something obvious. it will probably go as many places as the 4wheeler... just don't expect to get there fast!

That's the one to have. Probably last 10 years (or more) longer than that 95. As long as it is a good rebuild. Both of my 88's ( 4X4 and2X4) frames are spotless. My 94 is going to crap fast, 2 years ago it looked good.

I've got a 93 runner , 4x4, 5-speed. The 3.0 has broken crankshaft. Engine/tranny is out. No rust, no accidents, straight body. Everything is good, except the engine. Let me know if you'ld be interested.
