Hi, first post here. Family had alot of toyotas/hondas growing up. My 1st truck was a 68 chevy c1o (hence the name) I joined the AF and Im going to WA (where it gets snow ice, spokane) Looking at about a 2002ish toyota tacoma prerunner/4x4s. Are the prerunners locking rear diffs? Whats the avg price they go for? Not sure if I want the 4x4 or the pre runner (I like the lifted look of the pre runner)

Id like the 4cyl for gas mileage factor, does the auto suck that many miles off? Dad's got the 3.4 v6 in the tundra its not that great on fuel, but its a 1/2 ton truck.

Yall give me a few recommendations, what kinda mileage is too much for these trucks..

Any info is appreciated, mods is this the right section for this ?

I would definitely get the 4x4, especially with the snow and ice and whatever off roading you get into.

The guy selling that is a total retard.

$10k for a single cab? people need to understand that a SINGLE CAB will never be worth more than a 4RUNNER or EXT CAB tacoma, unless it has a boat load of fab done to it. that truck is worth about 7k, if that. and hes not even in california.

4cylinders have a chain, while the 3.4 has a belt that needs to be replaced around 80k.

4cylinder with an auto is a dog compared to the 5 speed, but it’s livable.

I get 21.5mpg driving 50miles a day to work, all surface roads. Highway I get maybe a 1/2 mpg better.

The single cab is SMALL it’s like Miata small. I love mine but many people couldn't live with it.

I have 136XXX on mine without any problems. I have heard of the 4cylinders going 200K plus.

Look for frame rust, Toyota did not treat the metal correctly and they rust out prematurely. This is the biggest problem with these trucks.
