Is the check engine light on? If so, what code(s) was/were there?

How many miles on the vehicle? Has this vehicle been in an accident? Any modifications or aftermarket stuff installed?

What tests have you performed? Fuel pressure? Have you hooked up an OBDII scanner to look at the live data from the sensors when it happens?

Could be fuel pressure. Perform a fuel pressure test to confirm at idle and at speed.

Is the MAF clean? Probably wouldn't hurt to clean it with MAF sensor cleaner and then reset the ECU by pulling the EFI fuse fer about 3 minutes.

How clean is the air filter? How about the throttle body and IAC valve? Probably worth a good off the air plenum cleaning...

If it was the converter, you can pull it off and visually see if it was. This was my converter gitting close to 400,000 miles on it...

My thread on cleaning my converter with piccies!
http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/60...threshold.html

How good are those spark plugs? Pull them, snap piccies of the business ends, and post the piccies! They should be NGK or Denso dual ground plugs as they seem to do much better in the 5vzfe engine than other brand/types.

Have you measured the resistance of the spark plug wires? Post up the numbers of what you measured.

Unless yer vehicle is a California spec vehicle, you will most likely not have an EGR setup. To confirm, you should be able to see the EGR setup off of the left exhaust manifold. If you don't have one, the blank on the exhaust manifold will be blank.

The MAF is the unit right after the air filter box. Make sure you unplug it from the wiring harness before you spray the wires clean. Don't make any physical contact on the wires with anything but the spray. Make sure the wires are dry before hooking it back up. Reset the ECU by pulling the EFI fuse fer at least 3 minutes.
