Still battling this problem. It fires right up, runs smooth, but the minute the temp gauge hits normal running temp, it wants to die, and it starts running like its running on three cylinders . Have to mash the skinny pedal to keep it running. Go out the next day, and the same thing happens.

Something else, sometimes it smokes like the thing does not have rings on the pistons. Couple of days later started it up and no smoke.

It is showing code 0441 on the scanner. Gonna try and fix the valve operating the charcoal canister.

It has a fresh tune up, and fuel filter.

94 3rz 5 spd 384,000 miles

Could be the IAC valve...

Pull it and give it a good cleaning.

BTW...when's the last time you replaced the PCV valve and cleaned the TB?

I don't know . Just bought the truck from a girl and she didn't know anything.

I tried pulling the pcv, but it was one with the grommet.

When was the last time you did a compression check? Vacuum leak test? Fuel pressure test/replace fuel filter?

Actually...the 2.7L was introduced part way through 1994 but only on the basic T-100 not the SR5. In 1995, they had all 3 engines available on the T-100s but the 3.0 was quickly phased out.

Even the chart here confirms that...chassis code RCK10.

Fuel filter was replaced.

This truck is thirty minutes from here at a friends house. It has been raining damn near everyday since I bought it, so not much time to work on it.

Fuel pressure was fine. Going to day a compression check tomorrow.

It is a 2.7 3RZ with obd2

Where is the ECU temp sensor? It is supposed to be on the back of the head, but I can't see it.

According to the factory wiring diagram...the colors of the wires should be green-yellow and brown/black. Looking at the harness plot diagram...it seems to be near the firewall and near the heater control valve hoses. Look fer the wire colors and that location on the engine and you should be able to find it. My 3RZFE T-100 is out at the moment so I won't be able to confirm until it gits home.

Okay...just went out and checked my T-100...it's located in a very tight spot. Not exactly sure how yer gonna git to it though. It's where I described it before. If you find the main wire harness in that location...you'll find one branch coming off of the main harness. If you trace that wire to the engine...that's where the sensor is located. With my small hands...it was really tough just touching the sensor let alone trying to see it with my eyes.

I think yer gonna have to take the wire harness up just to see back there. Maybe the valve cover has to come off so you can pull that sensor out. If you need to test it without pulling all that out...I think you'll have to do it at the ECU connector.
