1996 T100 Ignition Switch
Hi all - I have a 1996 T100 SR5 V6 with a bad ignition switch. The lock/key assembly works fine but I have to move the key and turn it just right for it to start. Is it possible to replace the ignition switch by removing the lower dash panel and accessing from behind without having to remove the ignition lock etc or is it more involved?
Thanks

remove the lower dash panel under the steering wheel. turn the key in the ignition switch to the on position. locate the small hole on the bottom of the ignition lock cylinder. insert a small punch or screwdriver into the hole and depress the keeper pin. hold this pin in and at the same time pull the key and the ignition switch out of the aluminum housing. istallation is the reverse.

Does the ignition switch have a small plug-in?
After replacing the lower instrument panel "shroud", below the steering wheel, and then turning the key, nothing happened, no clicks, nothing! (and I have a new battery).
Before replacing the shroud, the engine fired up. Did I forget to replace the ignition switch plug?
