Hey everyone. I bought a pillar pod for my 87 Runner to run 3 aftermarket gauges. Definitely going with a coolant temp, since everyone knows the stock SR5 cluster can lose its tiny little mind 98% of the time. Thinking about oil pressure for the second, but at a debate with the third. Just recently got rid of my stock auto cluster for an 88 V6 cluster, so now I have a volt gauge instead of the ECT/Norm lights that don't apply to me anymore. Plus I have a tach that's calibrated to my 7M. I was wondering if anyone has done a tranny temp for the W56? Or should I even bother? If so I'm not really sure which port on the tranny will work. Or maybe different ideas for my third?

Why...it's a manual. Just put in MT-90 and forget about it.

Put in a muffler decibel gauge. Or a wiper fluid reservoir level gauge.

LOL I'm in the same boat....got a gauge pillar couple years back with an included oil pressure gauge and cheapo sport comp A/F guage (which doesn't seem to work). I got a water temp sport comp, and the A/F gauge still sits there, unused. I had thought of a vacuum gauge for the replacement...you can get an idea of vacuum leaks and it's a rough way to gauge good fuel economy driving habits I hear....

The tranny temp was an idea in the back of my head from my old 86 standard cab. It had a W56, but for some reason that tranny just seemed to get hot when I took it out to play. The whole floor board would get super toasty and the smell of hot gear fluid would just pour into the cab. Never did figure the problem, all the fluids were topped off and didn't make any bearing noises.

My drivetrain is all rebuilt, so I guess Im just being a worry pants and was just thinkin overkill.

I have seen people run vacuum Philbert, but wasn't on the top of my list.

I'm guessing the heat was from exhaust. After my 3RZ swap, my floorboard can get stupid hot, right next the tunnel. Which is where my downpipe and crossover run behind the t-case. I hate the design, but that's the only way it fits. And I'm sure it's warming my trans & t-case fluid real well....
