It started when the stator wire to alternator connection melted
Batteries werent getting charge
replaced alternator, cleaned up all connections, installed dual optima red tops, wired them in series, replaced charge regulator, checked connections...
after i got it jumped, took it for a spin and ran good
shut it down and immediantly recrank - starts in less than 1/2 turn - good
after 30-100 minutes, try to crank very hard starting, lucky to get it to turn over..
then i remembered the first time it left me on the road and i found the blown connection, I accidentally touched the wire to the header and sparked , so i checked the charge fuze - was blown, so replaced, doesnt blow anymore.
still not getting charge
has somthing to do with grounding the positive at the alternator
any help on where to start is greatly appreciated as it is hot as baghdad here in st louis. Mosquitos like you wouldnt believe too.... thanks

Was it a typo or did you really connect your batteries in series giving you 24vdc or maybe you are running a 24 volt system for some reason
When installing an alternator your batteries should be fully charged
It is possible you cooked the new alternator .
How many volts are you reading across the positive and negative battery terminals
I have also seen corrosion on the alternator plug cause a no charge issue. The wire coming off the B terminal is known for getting burnt and brittle on the alternator end.
Have you updated your ground cables and connections

I fixed it, in my sleep deprived stupor i forgot to tighten down the side posts on the secondary optima....both batteries read 12 volts, starts fine now... . . . .
The only issue I have now is somthing happened to my wipers when i was messing with all this. Sometimes on intermittent mode they dont return back to the down position mid-stroke , and they fail to return back down when turned off.... I have a parts 84 so I can cannabalize stuff off of it.
Thanks to you guys for the quick help! This forum is the stuff!
