Question rear defrosters dont work!

when it is cold and raining hard, the inside of my 4runner fogs up super quick! I have the rear defroster button, and when pushed in it does light up, but still no help. Is there any kind of relay that could be shot? I would like to get it fixed before it gets cold again!

Thanks

I don't know what to tell ya. Mine does that too... I guess there is a bright side to all this, tho.......it's almost springtime, so it won't be raining as much, or as often.

ya my defroster is really weak too. Throw four people in there when it's cold out and i can barely see out most of my windshield let alone the rear window.

For the rear tailgate window, most likely the wires are broken off the glass inside the tailgate. Common problem. Take the panel off of the rear tailgate, and look on the bottom driver's side corner of the glass. There should be two wires connected to the defroster wires on the glass. If they are broken off, you'll have to re-attach them.

GSGALLANT, does that occur just when the back defroster doesn't work or when the rear side doesn't work also?

ah... well then you are stuck... a de"froster" melts the "frost" off the window, it works for condensation also, just not as fast

I would be more concerned about A/C then my rear defroster. I never use mine lol. Pop open the windows really quick for the inside, and for the outside when you stop at the gas station then you can use their squeegy.

Mine has been like that since July of 2006.... I lost it just before that "infamous" heat wave hit....

By rear side are you talking about the wires in the passenger side window in the cargo area. If so that's an antenna, not a defroster.
