The headlights on my 4runner now stay on when the keys are out of the ignition regardless of the position of the headlight switch. As soon as I put the keys in the ignition, they turn off.

My first thought was the headlight switch but the switch works fine as soon as the keys are in the ignition. For some reason the lights are still getting juice from somewhere only when the truck is off.

Any ideas? I'm checking the relays now.

The truck is 3rd Gen (2000) limited 3.4L

UPDATE: I couldn't find a good circuit diagram but I tried removing the DRL resistor (I've seen some call it a relay) next to the battery and that seems to fix the problem. Lights function normally. I tested high/low indicator - everything is working fine and no more lights when the truck is off. So it seems to be some sort of malfunction with the DRL circuit. I tried removing the DRL fuse earlier and the lights remained on - not sure why but maybe there is a short in the DRL circuit causing it to bypass the fuse? It doesn't make sense to me but without a diagram it is hard to say with any certainty.

I never liked day time running lights anyway. Would there be any issues with simply leaving the DRL resistor off of the truck? I don't see a point in trying to track down, test and fix these relays for something I really don't care for. I just want to make sure it isn't tied in with another circuit or something.
