battery Question
Hey all,
Im lookin for a new battery and woindered what people would recommend that wont break my piggy bank....
currently, whenever i run the winch, after a few min, the radio dies.....and the winch gets slower and slower
its just a common car / truck battery.....can anyone recommend a good replacement battery with decent specs to avoid this...short of having to buy a better alternator..also wouldnt mid it having enough juice to run the future lighting i have planned....(on bumper / roll bar)
Thanks
Paul

I've had multiple diehards and they never last more than 18 months. Don't waste your money...go to Costco or Sams and get what they have...cheaper and a better warranty than most. The best battery I've ever had was a Panasonic that came in my 4Runner....it lasted 7 years!

different batteries of the same brands last a certain number of years....the more you pay the longer it lasts.....i think you can get 3 year batteries, 5 year, and 7 year..other choices too like cold cranking amps...the more the better so it will crank when the weather is cold with no trouble....i mean you can spend $20 on a wal-mart battery that lasts 2 or 3 years or you could spend $60-$80 on a good battery and get 7 years so you don't have to worry about it for a long time

They just make them as cheap as they can...not like they used to. I have actually gotten longer life out of the cheaper batteries.

hm...you may be right...i haven't bought a battery in like 10 years as i've had a few new cars during that time....last time i bought a battery was on my old 88 toyota truck....it was the only battery i ever had to buy for it and i drove it 300,000 miles before i sold it...i bought it used with 100,000 miles on it....and i guess the previous owner had changed the battery at some point....now that i think about it that is the only time i've ever had to buy a new battery for any of my cars...lol....my 2006 car's battery has never been changed and it is fine after 3 years...i guess i'll see how long that one lasts...haha...i would go to autozone and get a duralast battery or something...it doesn't get below 15 degrees here ever so cold starting is not a huge issue

I dont think that battery brand and all that really matters all that much once you get to a 70-80 price range so i wont comment on that but You do run the winch with the motor running correct. I sounds as if your description that you may be running just the winch (without motor running)and sucking all the power from everything else.
If that is the case, you could buy any battery and you will have the same problem very, very soon.
