Does anybody have a good idea for this??

In the summer I sweat so much it is not uncommon to have the back of the seat damp on my commute home.

So after a while it starts to get pretty rank of course being used to the smell I don`t really notice.

So what would work the best other then the pressure washer.

Wet Okles might be something to look into. Or you could have them reapulstered with a removable cover..?

I've used our home steam vac with some success, though I'm usually battling kid detritus more than anything.

When I bought my 4 Runner seats I mixed up a few gallons of hot water with upholstery cleaner and used a light scrub brush on them, I soaked them in the driveway with the cleaner then used the shop vac to draw it out with the hose rinsing steadily, Ive done this on a few sets of sets since for other vehicles and as long as you suck all the dirty water out of the fabric and foam they will look new! I have a clear attachment for my shop vac from an old carpet cleaner that works perfectly for this, Ive also done the same thing to my carpets in the truck and cars, soak with hot cleaner and scrub then rinse with the garden hose and vacuum at the same time!

I spilled cooking oil on the back seats and removed and washed the covers and simply reassembled. I have not tried it on the front seats, but that may be an option.

Oxy-Clean, and take them to a car wash with HOT water. Hose it down with oxyclean fabric cleaner, and spray. Repeat. Then let them air dry. Or you can suck the water out with a shopvac.

that spreay cleaner foam uposltry stuff ( cant think of the name right now, but when i remeber ill post it up lol) and a carpet shampooer, if you spray it, let it set, then shampoo it and reapet, about 2 or 4 times, it works magic!!

Believe it or not, use bubble bath! It works great on removing stains from your carpet, I just did that last week and, the inside of your truck will smell pretty good. Not PRETTY as in girl pretty, I just mean that it will smell better than it probably smells now! My wife suggested that to me because of something she saw online, so after laughing my cake hole off at her...I soon was eating humble pie. I just used a hard scrub brush then my wet/dry shopvac to clean it up. I haven't used it on my seats because I have seat covers on them but, it must work the same.

I rented a carpet cleaner at the grocery store. You have to be sure to ask for the "stair tool." They also sell all the carpet cleaning liquids and they have an upholstery cleaner. Use the stair tool to clean seats and carpet in your vehicle. It does a great job of extracting the water from the seats and carpet. A lot of others remove the seats to get them really clean outside the truck. I did not use this on a 4runner but I cleaned up our minivan before selling it. It saw action from 3 toddlers and looked brand new after cleaning. It was 7 years old and had no permanent stains. The cleaner cost about $20 a day and you can clean the carpet in your home too while you have it. More fun.

as a former detailer. get a good degreaser and dilute it down for interior use. i use Simple Green now on my personal vehicles because i dont like the idea of sitting in chemicals. spray it down and use a STIFF bristle brush - a carpet brush if you can find one.

spray down the seats, let it soak in a bit. re-spray - scrub - wet/dry vac it up.

I use a small carpet shampooer that only has a hose with the brush/vacuum. They go for about 70 at the store. We have dogs that like to track mud so it is definitely worth it. Another idea would be to just use seat covers in the summer. You can take those off to wash easy enough. I wash my seats a few times over the summer. Same problem. A remote starter might help too. Then your truck would be cool before you got in it.

we have a Biodiesel processor in our shop where my 4runner is.

well ya see, the "leather" surfaces in my 4runner have started to MOLD!!!!!!

like parts on my door panels, steering wheel, shifter knobs, center console, dash....wtf!?



same thing happened to my Dad's Jetta while it was in there for an extended period of time...just a LOTTTTT worse...it was BAD.

mines not horrible..but you can smell it, and see it clearly.


how would i go about cleaning this? he never got his all the way off..but all he tried was some carpet cleaner and a rag i believe?

i haven't tried anything yet..but will SOON...then i'll armor all everything.

Turtle Wax Oxy Power Out. Comes in a can with a carpet brush attached. Spray and brush, use carpet shampooer. This also cleans coffee and pure maple syrup from cloth seats...
