Tranny + transfer case question...need help!
Okay, I bought a tranny and t-case separate. They won't go together because the male end of the transfer case doesn't stick into the female end of the tranny (coupler?) So, basically I have two male ends. Now, I have another tranny in the back of my truck...does the part just slip in and out? I wasn't able to remove the coupler.
Thanks

Got some more pictures of the trans? Mainly i need a view of the shifter plates, and I can tell you exactly why why won't go together.
The coupler does not slip in and out, you likely have a mismatched trans/case. The case is a G-series or R-series case (forward shifting) but I cannot tell on the trans.
To determine if its an R (turbo) or G (Carbbed) case, just count the splines on the input shaft. 21 is Carb, 23 is Turbo.

I was told the trans was for a forward shift t-case, and the t-case was a forward shift t-case off of an 84 pickup.
So, just count the splines? Even if I did, two males won't go together...or is that why?

Went to the dealership and they want $60 for the shaft...I'll pay it but they have 3 part numbers for the same one. And I need a vin number to decipher which one I actually need.
Any help? Thanks DC!

spline count was 21. It has two shift plates too. Definitely a g52 type trans. And, also the diagram that I looked at in two different toyota dealerships were exactly the same, its just a yoke that slips over the output shaft. I'll definitely post pics when I get it.
