I actually saw the decals like the images Bamachem & firemedic posted all the time on Toyotas when I was in Japan.

toyotas here have them too, mostly places like on engine blocks and other hard parts. until the early 80s they also had that logo on the oil cap.

do a search on http://www.ih8mud.com for "TEQ" and you can get tons of hits for TEQ cruiser crap!

This brings up something I saw last weekend. When I was doing my body lift.
stamped on something behind the front bumper. I saw "TOYODA".
what is that all about?

The actual (family; company) name was 'Toyoda' (with a 'd'). The company's marketing name was deliberately changed to 'Toyota' some decades ago. It's only been in the last few years that some of the company's branches switched over to this later name.

yeah i had some parts on my 86 pickup that said TOYODA. i just thought that they were misprints or something until now.

The steering rack on the 3rd gens have the "TOYODA" stamp on it..

Toyota actually used to be called Toyoda, because that was the founder's last name. But in Japan, it is bad luck to name your business after yourself, so he changed it. Look it up online.

i have a few more. a couple of the circle ones in red, and more of the one that says toyota motor. anyone want some? $7 a sticker?

these are made on a vinyl machine.
