Dyno Test

Hi Guys,

Just got back from the performance shop and had my truck dyno'd. Its a 01 tacoma with the 3.4L, supercharged, k&n, ngk iridium plugs (one step cooler), Stock headers and exhaust (doing these next).

On the best run it got 206 hp at the wheel and 235 ft-lb touque. Does anyone know how this compares to other tacos with s/c?

Here is a dyno chart from a 2001 Tacoma SRunner. The truck was completely stock except for the TRD Supercharger. I installed our fuel kit and removed the air box elbow. The max increase in HP was 46 HP. The max increase in peak HP was 33 HP. The result may have been more dramatic if it had headers and a free flowing exhaust.

So what you are saying that based on Gadget's tests with fuel upgrades (from URD I assume) that my truck is in the ball park?

In a nutshell, yes.

Read what this edmunds.com article reviewing the 2001 Tacoma states:
Any of three potent engines go under the hood. Two-wheel-drive Tacomas get a 2.4-liter four-cylinder base engine, rated at 142 horsepower and 160 foot-pounds of torque. Tacoma 4x4s and 2WD PreRunners earn a 2.7-liter four with 150 horsepower and 177 foot-pounds of torque. Standard on Double-Cab and optional on Xtracab models is a DOHC, 24-valve V6 that whips out 190 horses and 220 foot-pounds of torque. With V6 power, the Tacoma can tow up to 5,000 pounds when properly equipped. A supercharger is available from Toyota Racing Development (TRD) for the V6, boosting output to 260 horsepower. Ask your dealer for details.
You can find that quoted many places actually.

So what you're both saying is you lost ~54HP through the drivetrain. But gained ~70HP at the flywheel?

Yes I understand the specs for the engine. The tech said I am probably getting 260 hp at the fly wheel. There is a loss of hp through the drive train. Anyway I was just looking to see what others with superchargers were getting for stats on a dyno.

Here's another quote I found on page 8 of the TRD online catalog

3.4l V6 HP 265@4,600 RPM Torque in lb/ft 267@4,400 RPM

So you gained ~75HP and ~47 lb/ft of torque at the flywheel, and lost ~59HP through the drivetrain. Question then is, how much torque was lost through the drivetrain?
