I've always 'heard' that standard plugs can be gapped, but don't need to be. and that platinum plugs (any kind) should NOT be gapped. That is the reason for this pole. I'd like to see what others are doing. Most often I will check the gap with a feeler gauge and only once have I ever had to actually adjust to spec. But I think I dropped that one, trying to get it in the darned "5" hole, which ALWAYS gives me a hard time. In fact, I think I have a used plug sitting on that little shelf under the cylinder bank right now which I dropped on extraction.

I always check the gap. Densos and NGK's are usually OK out of the box but occasionally one needs adjustment. When working on my old big block Ford, they always need gapping out of the box.
