No problem, I’ve never worked on a harness before til now. Opened up a can of worms with no turning back (unless I gave up and paid someone else, no way!). Lots of headache, beers, and cigs, but have learned a TON and feeling confident.
goin at it Again today and hopefully will have my moment of truth when I put the battery in and try to start (fingers crossed 🤞 and can start putting everything back together
ive went through almost every single wire at this point. Let me know if I can be of any help
TAKE LOTS OF PHOTOS BEFORE AND IN PROGRESS!!!!
LABEL EVERYTHING AS YOU GO!!!!
I know the info is all there in the diagram but having a notebook and writing/drawing helps me a lot

Damn thats looking clean, just throwing this out there of things I did and wished id done... If you look at the old 2wheel drive they run the wires through the engine bay, instead of outside the fender and back in. Also if you have a carb, its a great time to do a desmog and chuck the computer an all the extra wires in the trash.

Well if you’re talking to me delmert, thank you! Those pics don’t do justice, it will be muuuuch cleaner soon. Just the near final ‘rough in’ at this point.
planning on starting a build thread after the moment of truth tomorrow...I’ve just got to plug a few things in, get all the grounds in order, splice in the fusible link, go around and double check everything looks right, AND THEN CONNECT THE BATTERY!!
hope I’m not looking over anything, I’ve been verrrry thorough. I figure if the fuses are all in, and no loose wiring that could short, I shouldn’t fry anything when I hook up the battery?
also, yeah I wish it didn’t go thru the fender and just straight thru firewall but I’m trying to keep it as close to stock for now, then maybe make modifications like deleting the smog
be on the lookout for a build thread and many more pics soon

All the diagrams posted in this thread are for the 22re engine with EFI and ECT computers, sensors, emissions stuff, completely different than the carbureted 22r. Does anyone have diagrams for the 22r? My 1988 FSM manual only has wiring for the 22re EFI version. I've got an '86 22r carb engine. Thanks!

Shoot me an email hamm4ever@gmail.com
I can send you them, I think there's other writeups for wiring. But everything thing else In the 22r system is fairly easy

You're not getting power to the ignition? Or fuse panel on the kickboard?
there's gonna be some guys that know alot more about the stock carb. I gave up on my first one.
I just through a webber on my buddies 89, desmogged it and capped a few lines. Like 50$ in parts other then the carb.

1984 pickup 22R 4x4 gasoline
Hi All, I have an 84 pickup and experiencing electrical issues. Here's the entire scoop.
It has stopped charging, will not start from the key switch, I have lost dash lights, fuel gauge, temp gauge, wipers, and signals.
I do have headlights and heater blower motor.
I have replaced the alternator, starter, and ignition switch wiring loom. I generally don't just throw parts at a problem but I guess I did here
I can start it by putting the key in the on position and jumping a hot wire to the starter. it will run and shuts off when I turn off the key.
Thanks in advance for any input!

Seems to be the wiring in your steering column.
ignition could be bad. But that's not the only problem.
Are you sure it's not charging? Is the light on telling you or have you actually tested it?
