i would just get some leaves and shocks from 4wheelparts. if your going for a mall crawler and not wanting to crawl. check out rockymountainsusp.com but if you go over 3 inches you will have to drop your draglink or flip the ball on it

I got the Rough Country 3" for like $470 Shipped to my door. Pretty easy lift to put on. It rode rough when i first put it on, but i immediately went and grinded the edges off some of the leafs to let them slide a little. I also spreded the leafs apart and put grease inbetween then. I Flexed it out and now it rides alot better and it only settled about an inch or so.

It is good for now until i can get the time to get the chevy rears on because its my DD

Chevys are really long and sometimes require a block to level the rear with the front (or a really long shackle - need to move/replace both the front mount and rear hanger)

Look into F150s for the rear, they are shorter and have more arch to them (so no need for a block or really long shackle - and only need to move/replace the front mount 11" forward using the stock rear hanger)

I just did the F150s on my 85 ExCab. I still need to tweak it a bit but am more than happy with the lift it gave. I don't have exact numbers due to the cap and about 600 to 700 lbs of spare parts that were in the truck when I got it. You can see in the the pictures below the new difference in the height (rear), this is with about 300lbs in the back.

old

new

Old rim to fender 11.25" (full of parts and a camper) to 17.75". Now I need to build/rebuild the rears and the front will be good to go... This is with a 4: eye to eye shackle.

Aren't 4Runner rear springs longer than the pickups? I heard that, but havent actually compared the two.

Up to the '88 pickups, same length:

'89 and later pickups did have longer rear springs.

Does anybody know/used this set up before (emu springs)

I have a brand new set of old man emu springs from a 86 4runner that I want to put on a 85 4runner.

Will these fit ?
I have the back springs and shocks.

Thanks..

Just bought the 85. I'm gonna be removing the springs and shocks from my 87 and placing them on the 85 (rear) ? There rated from emu as a 2" lift.

I'm also looking at the wabfab front end lift (4").

What size rear shakles would I need to have a level ride?
