Cool They say go BIG or stay home

Gotta go. my new 22RE is not right Im tired of messing with it. So a small block chevy 400 is in the works anyone have any experience with these swaps? what all is entailed with this. This is going into my 93 2wd truck. any advice would be very helpfull. Thanks Jim.

your definatly going big with that 400, go to the engine swap section and you can find info for these swaps

Moved to the Newbie Tech Section.

As WHEELER said, do a search and narrow it down to the Engine Swaps section and you should find a ton of info about various domestic swaps.

i would use that motor with a chebby 2wd tranny like a th350 or something like that to make it easy.

IMO that 400 even in stock form is gonna be way too much for that 7.5" rear end. Can't say about the trans though. If auto I would lean towards definitely not. Manual mayyybeeee.

yea manual 5 speed my main concern is holding the weight in the front.

Heavier springs in the front and you shouldn't have too many problems holding the weight of the motor.

If you're sticking with torsion bars, I'd get 26mm bars, with the weight of the motor they should ride nice and soft.

I would at least get a racing clutch for your trans, if not then run a trans that was meant for that engine. I doubt even the HD marlin clutch will hold it for very long. Will probably be a little cheaper going with a GM trans as well.
