Oil in Radiator

Oil in Radiator
So like the title says I am getting oil in my coolant. I recently bought a used 22r for my 82 and temporarily have been using straight water for the coolant. I have driven the truck for approximately 75-90 miles over the last couple of weeks. It seemed to be operating within normal temperature range. The temp gauge never got over halfway.
It blows white smoke out of the exhaust and I cant get the idle adjusted lower than say 1000 rpms.
Today I checked the compression and am getting 165,170,170,170. I thought that the head gasket had blown but according to those numbers its good correct?
Any insight would help.

Either head gasket or the timing chain rubbed its way into the coolant passage due to the lack of a chain guide. Most likely HG. Just because the compression is good doesnt mean the hg is NOT busted. You have major signs of a head gasket failure. Its really not that difficult to do. Took me probably 15 all together from start till finish over 3 days. Thats with all the little crap i kept running into and not getting the timing right once it was all back together. Total cost for me though? Toyota Head gasket- $52. Ten 22re head bolts with 3 day shipping- $65. A jug of coolant $12. A jug of oil $15. Craftsman torque wrench- $90. Various new sockets and a scraper I needed $20. No machine work done. It is recommended, but not always necessary. About 1200 miles and no problems yet.

heads off. gasket doesn't look like it has failed. Head looks like there is no electrolysis at least what I can see. I think maybe I should take it to a head shop to be pressure tested?
Could it really be the timing chain? The timing chain guides are still in place and it does have the double row timing chain which has the metal guides.
So if not head gasket...cracked head?

well not likely enough oil to look like it does. I never hooked up the heater core either, just looped it over and I flushed and cleaned the radiator and hoses prior to putting the truck back together the last time.

well just got the call from the head shop and the head is not cracked and is in good shape. So the shop is going to deck it and Ill go pick it up in a day or two. So I guess I will check the timing cover next. If it looks good then I dont know how oil got in the radiator.
