Leads for testing Idle Air Control Valve?

The Haynes manual (gen 3 4runner) shows a diagram where the tech is testing the IAC valve with some leads connected to a battery (pg 4-16). Am I correct in assuming that means I should connect the leads to the vehicle battery?

Are these 5 ft jumper wire test leads from Autozone what I need to pick up?

You need a volt meter to measure the resistance.

The manual was showing the person applying voltage to see if the solenoid turned.
