how to test if the slave or master cylinders bad
hey guys i have an 89 yota pickup with a v6 in it. as i was driving i noticed its hard to shift into 1st and reverse and my shift petal was easy to push in. asked my father what the problem is and he said its either the master cylinder for the or the slave cylinder. is there a way i can test it so i know what one to replaice or should i just replaice both of them? thanks

Have you been adding fluid??
Has the fluid been kept full?? If it ran dry or sucked air in through the Master cylinder it would need to be bled
Other wise no air should be getting in the system.
If one is bad I find if you don`t change both you will change the other one in a week or 2.
Doesn`t hurt to change the rubber clutch hose at the same time then it is all good to go for at least 10 years.
I have yet to be able to tell the difference in these parts I have used Napa Advanced Auto, Local Independent Auto Parts, And Toyota.
This was before everybody but Toyota started buying things in China I have yet to install any of these China built parts If they are like the welders they will be lacking.
