Completly stumped on my 85 issues. need help i have no clue
Sorry for the length but Well long story i bought an 85 next day some guy blew a stop sign i monster trucked him and messed up my front clip. I did the repairs and thought i was in the clear and then the gremlins came. If it hasnt been one thing its the other. Well after months of tidious sorting crap out and 1000 to a mechanic i think im down to one problem and this is where im stumped. In town i am golden not a single problem yet. But whenever i want to go play it seems like its chocking out starving for gas only when going up a hill, ive thought about a fuel filter or maybe a new gas tank since no where around will flush mine and think theres poop in my tank and thats gunking it up or if i just have a carb not a clue. Noone in town can tell me since its tempremental and only wants to do it ever now and then. When the issue comes around if i give her 6 and drop the clutch it goes, it idles fine but when i barely give it gas it chokes out and dies. With the choke off the problems worse. Im at a total loss. Any help much appreciated.

It might be nice to know just what you have tried to fix this problem.
I think you have a 22R the carb engine.
It can never hurt to change fuel filters I also wonder if from the impact your float level may have changed.
It also could be any number of other problems unrelated to the fuel system
vacuum hoses on incorrect
engine in need of a good tuneup.
just what did the $1000.00 get done for you.
Then again when this started you may have had the problem you describe only had not been aware of it .
Because the truck being new to you!!!
In any case welcome and good luck.

Its had a pretty good tune up, head gasskit, plugs, new distrubuter, exhaust gasskit and head gasskit. I have done regular stuff oil changes and what not. Im going to try the fuel filter tomorrow but i haveny been able to find one, i followed the frame and where i keep getting told its suppose to be its not so im thinking cutting a new one in. As far as the float goes mine is messed up i never know where my gas is and thats how its always been.

The fuel filter should be right in front of the tank in a lil clip i think on the outside of the frame but cant remember exactly. Trace the 3 fuel lines comin out of the tank and you should find it
