Check Engine Light - On then off then on?

Has anyone ever had their CEL go on and then go back off later?

Funny thing happening to my 2000 SR5 4wd 4R auto.

On the way to town 40 miles away the CEL came on again.
Same P0 330 'circuit 2' knock sensor code it keeps throwing.

The 4R runs great except for a little HG/LR knocking, but it's getting better after I installed new 2 step colder plugs and new wires and ran a bottle of techron Fuel System Cleaner through the gas tank. The
knock is barely noticeable or gone now.

After 4R was turned off and sat for an hour, the CEL didn't come back
on when I started it up to go home. Drove all over town and was about
half way home 30 miles later when the CEL came back on again. WTF?

Has anyone ever had their CEL go on and then days later turn itself back off again? Then turn back on again...and so on?

I thought that you had to unhook the neg bat. terminal for 5 mins to
re-set the CEL and turn it off. This one goes on and off on it's own?

Anybody have an idea what is going on??? THANKS!!!!

My CEL on my 94 4runner did this all the time. My code was for the EGR though. If i ran it on the highway long enough the light would go out. Stop and go driving for a day or two and it would come back on.

My knock sensor did the same thing turning the CEL on and off randomly. I replaced it and it has been fine for years.

Question

Brian2sun ... Did you notice any difference in performance when the CEL was on compared to off? Or did it run the same either way? Thanks
