check engine light flashes on acceleration
Need help here please. I've got a 1994 22re 4x4 that I've been dealing with some wiring issues with. Since last week, the check engine light light had been on for over a year due to egr. Then the coolant temp sensor and o2 sensor codes showed up about a month ago. The wiring to the coolant temp sensor (ect) and cold start time switch was chewed up on the connector plug side. Well this past weekend I changed my o2 sensor and spliced in new plugs for both the ect and cold start sensor. Now when I accelerate, the check engine light comes like its intermittent flashes and the truck stumbles with poor acceleration performance. While idling though, no check engine light and smooth idle. Could this be a bad ground to a sensor that is causing this? Every time I mess with the ect, I produce some strange often negative behavior. Any thoughts on how to fix? Thanks.

What are the actual codes you are getting? Sounds like you have a broken wire in the harness. Maybe the codes will help point to a direction. How is the ground mounted to the front corner of the intake? Also, how did you make your splices? Some sensors measure resistance, like ect, so a poor splice will return a signal outside of the ecus parameters.

Good news, I think I've fixed the problem. As I suspected, it was a ground wire leading from the injectors. It's wire #4 on the thread https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f116...-guide-194413/ It took this thread to help me find it since mine had been moved and was located in a very inconspicuous location. Anyway, after switching out the 02 sensor (w/ a Denso) because the tip of my former one had broken off, splicing a new plug for the cold start injector sensor, coolant temp sensor, and oil pressure sensor, and finding this loose ground wire...my truck is running smooth and has regained my confidence in it. Right before I fixed the ground, the check engine light wasn't on, but when pulling the code, there was just was a steady flash indicating "major misfire" I guess. Hopefully, if i reset the ECM tonight there will be no more codes appearing. Well, THANK YOU ALL here on yotatech!! Another solved problem with a 12mm wrench because I had the right info.
