bumpy ride = oil pressure light

'89 22re engine. I was having oil pressure issues meaning that when the engine was on my pressure light was on (cold/hot etc.). I checked wire and yes it has a couple splices, but still had continuity, so I bought a oil pressure diagnostic gauge to check pressure. Pressure seemed fine. Cold idle was about 75psi and warmed up idle was about 20. I figured my sending unit was malfunctioning, so i bought a new one. Now, every bump in the road lights my dash light. I figure it's an electrical problem, but aside from continuity from sending unit to wiring loom, what do I test/check?? Thanks in advance!

Be sure there is no corrosion on them and they are fastened tightly to clean metal.

Also, check under the dash and around the ECU and be sure those ground wires, if present, are tight.

Ok so I checked my engine grounds and all look good and tight and unfooled around with.

Even with the sending unit unplugged it still flickers on vibrations and bumps.

Is it possible I could route a new wire to the ecu or gauge cluster? What would be the easiest way to do so?

THANKS!

Red face

Is it possible you have a loose connection where the wire attaches to the sending unit??

If I remember the light will come on when the circuit is grounded.

The easy fix might be to install a manual gauge.:wabbit2:
