I have seen plenty of threads about replacing the OEM with the same aluminum and plastic radiator. Has anyone used an all metal replacement and if so which one was used? I am having trouble finding out for sure if they are an exact fit. I have the 3.4L 4wd Highlander edition. Thank you in advance.

Now I installed a 3 row copper and brass radiator in a 2000 Tacoma 3.4

No it is not going to be a direct bolt in but it is not really bad .

I just fabricated brackets off the stock radiator .

I did need to get creative with the lower hose nothing major.

I don`t think it will be difficult depending on your skill level.

I have been doing Fabrication for so very long so my easy might be next to impossible for others.

My fab skills are non-existent. The radiator that i am looking at is the CSF 2304. The dimensions seem to be the same except for the fact that it is about 1/2 inch thicker. The inlet and outlet look like they are in the same spot. Is it worth the extra money and potentially having to tweek things? Or should i just go with OEM replacement?

That is a call only you can make.

As long as your not into Hardcore off roading the plastic Aluminum should be ok.

Maybe some one close could help you to do this in exchange for helping them do something if you were close I would.

The All metal radiator is just a personal preference of mine and others.

Search on here for radiator upgrades /repairs we do have a radiator Tech on here that gives good sound real world advice.

I will be towing a pop up throughout the summer and fall which is why i wanted to get the stock one out (130k). A local shop suggested all metal for the simple reason that any radiator place no matter where i am could repair it easily if something should go wrong. I have seen a couple of other threads saying they had no problem with fit but they were all older gen trucks. My original plan was to get an OEM radiator and just bypass the internal trans cooler with a B&M. Just not sure the best route to go.

That is the reason I like the all metal.

Easy Repair with a propane torch flux and some solder.

Just one more question, which metal radiator did you use for yours?

I had that same CSF in my last 4runner. Nothing needed tweaking, but I would recommend switching to worm gear type clamps form the spring clamp type as the barbs on the inlet and outlet are not as pronounced as the OEM. Oh, and trail gear makes silicone hoses too if you don't want to have to replace them ever again.

I should add that I wouldn't bypass the trans cooler to an external if you live in a colder climate too. It makes for pretty sluggish shifting until the fluid finally warms up.
