89' 4runner Body Lift Question...can't seem to find the thread

ARGH!!! I've spent the past 2 nights digging through the forums and still can't find the answer to my question.

My truck: 89' 3.0 5sp. 4runner- stock.

I wan't to get some slightly larger tires, 33's or 35's maybe(10.5 wide). I'm not a hard core off roader, but want some more meat on my wheels.

Can I do this with a 2" or 3" body lift alone? Ebay is tempting me with a 3" lift kit for $125 bucks....

Thoughts? Opinions? Redirection to the thread I'm looking for?

Thanks!

people run 33x10.5 with no lift at all with little rub. dont do a 3" bodylift it will show to much frame. if anything just get a 1" bodylift and get sliders.

If you want to make your way over here, I'll give you my 3" body lift for free if you give me your stock mounts and help me swap it out. You can even have the extended gas filler hose that you'll need

TXS xxxtreme22r, I found some good stuff in the link!

So 3" is too much huh? I cant seem to find any pics of trucks with just a 3" body lift. Its always in combination with huge suspension mods.

What are sliders?

Tempting, and your not too far really... do you have pics of your truck?

Curious- Why do you want to go back to stock?

The body lift is to clear the 35's on it now, and I'm planning to switch to 33's so my suspension lift will be enough. I was also thinking about taking the mounts and seeing if I can cut them down but either way, they're not what I want. 3" suspension, 3" body, 35x12.50

oh and 33's or 35's on a daily driver will need atleast 4.88 gears.

Like bobby duce said, better be ready to spend some serious cash on gears to turn those big tires. It'll drive like a golf cart if you don't do gears. But if you must, Ball Joint Spacers are the cheapest way to lift your front end, and then you can get 33's with a little rubbing.
If you stay with stock gears, 31 x 10.5 are a the best fit

Body lifts = steering column, brake line, shifter, radiator, emergency brake line and fuel line and fuel filler tube modifications at the least. If you have to do it, keep it at 2 inches or below. A suspension lift of some sort is a better alternative. Or better yet fender trimming!

I definitely recommend the 4crawler BL kits, very high quality and same basic price as some of the other kits. Also for just a little more $ you can get ball joint spacers and rear shackles
