I'm at a loss at this point. It's a 22R carburated. Recent work on the truck includes:

new exhaust & cat
plugs, cap, rotor
PCV
oil & air filters (oil change, duh)

The truck seems to be running as smooth as ever, but the CO reading is high. Are there any tricks to get a car to pass the test, even if the fix is just temporary? I've heard alcohol in the gas, but not sure what kind of alcohol or if this is even a good idea. Anything else?

try seafoaming it. youtube seafoam and you'll find a bunch of videos. supposedly its "guaranteed" to make your vehicle pass emissions

I'd like to get any info I can before I take it in to get tested again. I've had to pay for the test three times now

Go over to the Marlin Crawler forums in the engine drive/train section there is a thread at the top of the page that gives information and tips on how to pass smog, try it out, im sure you will find some helpfull tips there.

This is more of a last resort. I've done this in a parking lot near the inspection just before taking it in. Find the air adjustment on your carb. Lean it out while listening and watching a vacuum gage if you got one. Lean means it runs hotter, so don't leave it like this after inspection or you'll burn valves. good luck. let us know your results.
