I am helping my son rebuild a 1988 3vze 4runner. lifted 4 inches. Engine rebuilt and installed and when hooking up fuel line broke the old pipe. at fuel filter broke again. Noticed rubber hose from fuel tank first 12" then pipe to filter then after filter hose again near starter and up to pipe and the banjo fitting at fuel rail.
Local Dealer says the entire line should be pipe due to high pressure. Factory parts don't fit withoue extension due to lift. Are there other solutions?

Why would a lift make any difference??

You can make your own steel line just reuse the Toyota flare nuts.

You can also have rubber line just use the fuel injection line with fuel injection clamps .

Use the FI line to connect new steel line is another option.

Thanks for your assistance. When we inspected the lines we found a rubber hose connect from the tank to the filter and wondered why that was so. Maybe an incorrect assumption was it was there because of the lift. fuirther inspection has now shown that the fitting off the fuel pump at the top of the tank is missing-- replaced by hose and clamp. We were confused by the dealers assertion that the entire line had to be pipe. We will try with high pressure hose and clamps and hope that works

It should work just fine with the rubber hose, and clamps, just be sure to double clamp each end... I have done this to a few yotas, and never had problems. But... do remember to check them periodically for rubbing etc... I'm sure you wouldnt want to leak gas all over the place, or worse...

just curiosity...does anyone know how at how much psi the fuel line runs at on a 95 4Runner?
