22re Rebuild successful?
I just rebuild my 22re dude to a rod bearing going bad and i have the motor back together finally and i mind you that this isnt my first motor rebuild. Anyways ive got it all back together and it idles perfect! like a dream, nice and smooth no problems until i try to give it gas to move it. ive checked all the vaccume lines and all the gaskets for leakes and theres nothing, ive looked for 2 days and its just not there for me. im new to toyota im a ford guy. i have no idea where to start.... please help.

to start things off, I have never worked on a 22re. The only toyota engine I've worked on is a 7mgte. But its all boils down to the same thing in the end. If it idles well, I don't think you have an intake leak. From my experience its usually the other way around, idle poorly, but smooth out at higher rpm as then theres enough air movement to compensate.
My guess first guess is air flow meter/ mass air flow sensor. Even when not plugged in they will allow the engine to idle just fine but as soon as you open the throttle it doesn't sense the added air movement and then you have problems.
My second guess it the throttle position sensor. You probally need to adjust it anyways. It effects everything about the engine and how well it runs.
Keep in mind I said "guess" for both of them.

well the TPS was my inital problem solver but i adjusted that and thats what calmed the idle down and i tried to adjust it to make the higher RPM work and i just wasnt getting anywhere. ive definitly hooked everything up right but i was wondering if maybe it was a vaccume line that i had reversed or hooked up a$$ backwards.

well i figured out that the TPS was infact bad and i installed another bran new on and it runs great!smooth as glass, not a powerhouse but its smooth. Thanks for all your tips helping me out. great stuff.
