22r burns oil on startup

I feel like I've seen these threads around before but now that I need them I cant find them.

Anyway, heres my problem. If I cold start my truck I get some pretty thick white smoke with a tint of blue and an oil smell. It only does it for a minute or two, only when cold starting, and only when its cold outside.

So whats wrong? Bad valve seals? Compression (from what I can tell) is good, havnt confirmed that with a pressure test, though. Is it coming from the rings? I changed my oil a couple months ago, cant remember wich viscosity I went with off the top of my head but probably 10w30. Seems to just start now that th temperature has dropped.

I'm not so much worried, just curious. I'll drive it until it blows up

Just wondering if Its something I'll feel like messing with.

I'd definitely suspect valve seals/guides to be worn.

I have a set of seals, I suppose I could put them in if I have too. Heck though, if the rings are shot I'll add oild every 500 miles until I cant afford it anymore, then take the tags off and have myself a new farm truck and run it until the motor seizes up from not having any oil

now that I think about it, its hard to start sometimes. And its been running hotter.

don't know if its me being paranoid, but i'm thinking maybe the HG is going.

I think they're probably un-related. Time to pop the oil cap off tomorrow

I would say VG seals. Mine burns oil on start up and will load up on oil if I let it sit at an idle for more than 10 minutes. Then it looks like im in the mosquito killing business.
