1989 4runner dumbo mirrors!!
hey everybody,i have a 1989 4runner with the "dumbo" chrome mirrors, they are the extended mirrors that bolt with a l shaped bracket to middle of door. i also have swing out quarter windows, my drivers mirror will not stay in position just swings around and need new mirror. i cannot find one anywhere i have tried used, new, after market, can't get anything but little small bolt on mirrors. i was told that they may have been port installed mirrors here in the east coast but unfortunatly no longer available through toyota parts.. any help would be greatly appreciated!steve

JoeS here has the Toyota mirrors that were offered as an option. However, my friend bought a new stripped '88 and it had them. They are hard to find. I had giant Landcruiser mirrors on mine when I bought it. I got the mirrors you see about 12 years ago off eBay by searching "mini truck mirrors" and "west Coast mirrors" They are actually mini west coast mirrors. 80's Broncos had the same mirrors, but the mirror heads are much larger.

My mirrors are more street tow mirror as the steel supports are hard fixed the to door. They will damage the exterior sheet metal and maybe window system if they smack onto something while off roading /trail riding. Your mirrors are better suited for off road/ trial. I believe the supports have a top and bottom bolt, so they can be swung back out of the way or will pivot backwards if they smack on something.
