Throttle Body Spacer

I just installed a Poweraid TBS in my '03 4.0L 4Runner and have noticed at least a 3mpg increase, as the computer says. I have a K&N FIPK so the install only took 20 minutes. Its a quick and easy tip for anyone who wants better performance.

You'll be the first on the board to say that the TBS mod is worth the money...

No proven increase in horsepower or torque and that's from more than a few dyno tests.
I wish I had invented it. $$$$$

That Trip Computer is pretty optimistic, I don't trust what it tells me.

Seriously, Dihoward, if you're stoked with your results, then cool... It's just that the TBS doesn't carry a high reputation with the Toyota crowd. I'm sure it works with the high HP American engines, but there have been no substantially proven results for us import guys....

The 4th gens have the trip/fuel mileage computer calculators like the Vettes from the '80s and they probably work just as well.

I know that when I put my TBS on when I first got my Taco, I also cleaned the TB, which may have accounted for a little bit of the "seat of the pants" feel I got. I really don't think that it did anything. Now, when I did the deckplate and ISR, THAT'S when things started noticably changing! So, my official opinion, is the money you spend for the TBS is just not worth it. I can up my mpg just by staying out of the throttle (which is hard to do because I like the "VRRROOOOMMM" of the deckplate...) Just my 2c.

What about a Tornado? Slick 50? A bamboo steamer?

One of these things actually does work like advertised.
