4th Gen Driver's side mirror

Anyone replaced the driver's side mirror on a 4th gen. If it isn't a heated mirror can I replace it with one, it would seem logical that the wiring is in there?

Mine's cracked by defect (as I believe) or by vandals (as dealership is content to believe) and i need to replace it.

Not sure if the heated mirror one would do it but I would definitely give it a whirl. If it works hell I'm doing that mod too!

Did the SR5 not come with heated mirrors? I was under the impression that it did.

Since it is in both the Sport and the Limited, I bet the wiring is there, just not used.

nope the sr5 does not sadly but i have been wanting to do this but never had the chance... I'd say you probably can do the swap and the lines are there but the only way to check is by removing the mirror and going from there.

good luck and post back cuz if so, I soooo want to do this

Some of the guys in T4R.org forum done this mod. As far as I remember the wiring is under the dashboard but in the door, so you have to run them through the door by yourself.

went with unheated :(

Oh well. It wouldn't be a bad mod though. The mirror's snap on, took 5 min. I suspect more to run the wires out for heated.

basically two tabs align the mirror to the plastic clip and the bottom snaps in. To remove mirror just get a slotted screwdrive insert between mirror and motor mound in groves and twist. I can take some pics if anyone is interested.
