If you check the link I posted I think they go up to 24MM or 15/16". Tranny bolts I have come across are usually around a 17MM or so.

Can you beat a tight fitting 6 point socket onto it? Give that a try if there's any resemblence of a hex left. Maybe one mm smaller than the correct size.

He said earlier he doesn't have a welder. The hammering a socket on there works in extreme cases. Works best if you have a kobalt socket cause you just take it back to Lowes (having you receipt makes it easier) And then they give you a new one.

Yeah. The shock to the threads from hammering on the socket should help unfreeze that bolt too. Good luck.

Chisel, notch and hammer often work. Theoretically, you could file the bolt faces flat and put an adjustable wrench on it.

I like the bolt extractors, I have used them before. I have also had to do the chisel trick and that usually leaves me bloody.

Well i tried beating on it with a hammer then using some channel locks, then using a chisel, i gave up, it was too hot out. Looks like im gonna go to my buddys house and weld on a bolt.

A week after i get my truck off his driveway (for a clutch) its comin back haha. Ugh i wish i had a welder, i can weld better then my friend who owns one. ha

I had the exact same thing happen, went to change fluid couldn't get the fill bolt out.

I took it to a machine shop with a 12in piece of steel and they welded it to the bolt for free, it only took like 15 seconds. (i had to drive home with it hanging off)

Then when i got home i still couldn't get it off so i put a 2 foot cheater bar on the steel rod and it came right off.

In an emergency situation, you can do what I did. I, drained all the fluid from the tranny, then realizing i couldn't get fill plug off (stripped), I WTF'D for a minute. End result, I removed shifter knobs, covers, unbolted shifter assm, and poured recommended amount through shifter housing. I still am procrastinating and still haven't got that fill plug off yet.... but I can still drive!

Since it's up in the tranny tunnel, you'll have a hard hammering a chisel or socket onto it.

Aside from what's already been mentioned...

Big-azz vice-grips -- nothing like the satisfying "clunk" of the handle locking down on that bad-boy. It helps to have a manly grip, of course.

So i tried everything above. A friend and I even removed some of the exhaust to get more room.

Well I wasnt going to give up so I went to valvoline instant oil change, I know a few people who work there so I trust em. They were like "well if we cant get it i know a place that will cause we dont have the right tools and what not. But well give it a try"

10 min later the guy comes up the stairs with this huge grin on his face.

Heres what he had in his hand.

Im keeping this SOB, along with my exploded outer pilot bearing race that took 4 hours to remove.

The best part out of all this, they didnt charge me anything lol.

hahaha nope. there is a chunk missing because my friend took a grinder to it to knock off the crap tack weld and he thought it was holding it on.

I just changed out the tranny fluid too. yuck, i think it was in there for a while, and wow does gear oil stink.

glad to see you got it off I used a pair of channel locks and clamped the handles shut with a vise grip. to get a good bite on the bolt.

I couldnt get one of those bolt extracter sockets on there. Not enough room.

Thats basically what they did. They used some vise grips and then tightened em with a pipe wrench.
