You think your salvage yards are bad? When I first bought my 4runner, I had to go look for a part I didnt end up needing (VSV for the PAIR valve). I went to the 4 salvage yards in town here, only one of them had any Toyotas pre-95.5, and that place only had three. One was a 2nd gen 4runner with everything taken off it except the frame , the IFS, and the sheet metal, minus the doors. Then there was like an '86 2wd with nothing but rust and a crappy 22r, or what was left of it. There was also another 2nd gen 4runner, but actually had a fairly intact 3vze. The body was next to none-existent, much like the first one.

hey the front doors on 4-door 2 gen runners are the same size as the single cab pickup doors, right?

there's a red one there with 2 two IMMACULATE doors, and it would be cool to have power locks and windows

oh and I installed a few of the goodies today!

after some probing with the volt-meter, I wired up the pig-tail:

and we have light!

but I have an extra one of those little green bulb-condoms, so I might cap it with that, cause it's pretty bright. I also have to pick up a bulb for the ash tray, as it's burned out; at least it has to pass through a green lense

and the speakers boxes fit like a glove, even though I have no speakers to install in them at the moment

I did notice something odd though

see it?

the wires for the speakers are ran! there's no plug on it, but their ran! strange... like the guy on the assymbely line decided he just didn't want to crimp the plug to it no big deal, cause I'd run my own wires anyway, that's why I snagged the pig-tail for both boxes too

and I also picked up the little puzzle peice to do my SR5 cluster swap when MY gauge pod gets here

and in case anyone's going to do the ash-tray and lighter swap to the lighted ones, the dimmer ground is this little plug in

2nd gen 4runner front doors are not the same size as a std cab 3rd gen trucks. I thought they were and got the door mounted up and they were about 4 inches to short, you could see completely behind the bench seat.

I have an 89 and the front doors off of a 94 Runner are way to short.

Did you take them off a 4-door or 2-door 94 Runner though? If I'm not mistaken, one of them will fit, I just cannot remember which

oh btw, if someone's curious, DO NOT try to clean the finger prints off the gauge face with acetone...

luckily, I tested it out on my old broken standard cluster first:

You'll have to keep it floored around town just to know how fast you're going.

solvents=no bueno

MAAAAANN! you first gen boys need to leave the 2nd gen tech to the second gen guys...
31"tire package was INTRODUCED in 90... as were the associated 4.56 gear to accompany the 5 spd or the rare 4.88s for the autos...
geesh...

short answer, no... if its got 4 doors, then toyota had to shorted up the fronts to make room for the rears...
IF you were able to find a 2door in a junk yard (and thats a BIG if) buy the whole damn thing, not just the doors... i dont care if its been in a fire and theres no running gear, its worth it...
if someone rapes a 2 door 2nd gen runner for its freaking doors to put on a truck i will hunt them down and do... well... something really bad...

anyways, nice find trav, wish our junk yards had toyota trucks in them... we got lots of cars... lots of 5mg's, 7mg's, 22r's, etc. but no truck parts...

ok, so I was bored on the way home this afternoon and decided to stop by the junk yard again.

I had planned on looking at, and maybe getting some bucket seats, but they were in worse shap than I thought

so instead I ripped the glove-box light from a 4Runner I'll turn my 91 into an SR5 yet!

I think that if I'm bored tomorrow, I'll ride back up there and grab a mirror out of it too; the type with the two map lights on it
