I am having the same issue with a new rad as well. But I havent burped the system so im gonna do that (just run the engine with the rad cap off??) and a new t-stat. Because Ive heard that once you overheat a t-stat it'll be wigged out now and wont function properly.

So I just burped my system and a bunchaa air blurps came up. So that means there was alott of air in the system, which coulda led to my overheating. Then I relized I am going to put in a new t-stat later today so why burp it now, if I am just gonna have to burp it again later today after I change the t-stat?? So ill just get the 195 thermo and burp it again later!

Get a toyota thermostat. Aftermarkets cause temp gauge overshoot on 22re's.

When you are burping the cooling system. Run from cold till the truck is at regular running temp. With the rad cap off and heater on hot.
