If you can wait for a few days I'll be able to go back to the yard and see if they have any more. Although I can't send you one for free I'll only charge you what they did (I'll send a copy of the vendors reciept along) plus whatever shipping will be.

That is if I can find more than one since I need one for the 4runner.

I'll keep you posted.

edit: I forgot to add that a new one from NAPA is almost 700$ so 150$ might not be too bad if it's all you can come up with and I can't find any down here.
Shipping my Aussie Locker from NY wasn't much at all, and it came in a big box and its heavy. If you do find something, let me know, I trust you on the price. I may just go with a non-plug and play. I'm going to take apart a broken AFM that I have to see how tough it would be. Someone ripped the plug on this one out already and the black cover on the top has been glued back on with blue RTV.

Spectre Air Filter

You would if you were attaching onto the stock AFM. The point of switching to the Supra is that it's larger and can suck in more air. 2.5 for the stock, 3 for the new, if I'm not mistaken.

The Spectre cone filter Junker used is available in Langley from a place called TYA.
Langley 19889 Fraser Hwy. (East of 200th)
604-539-9577

You have to place an order and deposit, and then wait. I'm thinking of picking up this:
P4 Cone Filter Multi Fit Base Blue #8136
Black Ducting #8741
Blue Cuff x2 #87416

Info and catalogue at www.spectreperformance.com Let me know if anyone's going to place an order, so we can all get in on it and get the shipping faster.

A guy wants $150 used? For that I'd just grab a '83-85.5 and do the mod. I'm gonna do this mod myself soon, so I'd lend a hand if your in the GVRD.

Hey Logan, check out one of my latest threads. I posted a few preview pics for you before I post the whole build.
I'm in by Grouse Mtn, what about yourself? I'm going to see if i can find a cheap parts supra from which to take a non-plug and play AFM and solder it up, I may call you. I have a neighbour who is a genius with a soldering iron, so I may ask him to help.

He's probably better at soldering then. I'm not the pro, just thinking two heads are better than one. I'm in N. Burnaby.

You can find the same AFM on alot of 5M-GE engines, thats were i got mine from, and the part numbers match those posted in the links above. 22250-43110 and 197100-3020, should be plug and play.

I may have a line on a donor AFM from an 84, 85 or 90 (my choice).

Interesting read. http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/lane/1231/afm.html

But, I;m a little confused. What exactly am I swapping between the AFMs? Just the circuit boards?? The internals of the Supra AFM and much bigger than the 22RE;

In comparing the afm's it just looks ridiculous how different they are! I "hopefully" just scored an '82 supra afm from a junkyard out of CO for cheap, we'll see.

Matt,
I read that link you posted and it mention replacing the fuel injectors? Is this something we should be concidering as well? I don't remember reading that anywhere...

That was in reference to some other engine found on some other Toyota. 22RE injectors are apparently plenty adequate for this mod.

I've sent off 20+ emails to people selling Supra parts seeing if I can find an '82 but it looks like Celica guys snap them up quick for their 22REs- which I think is plain selfish, their cars don't weight anything to start with.

Blackulua (sp?) has been a huge help so far, I'll post what I've learned tmr.

That's cool about the injectors. I did the same thing and went thru an internet junkyard search engine and emailed like half a dozen places and the junkyard in CO wrote me back same day with a price including shipping. I think I just got lucky.

I think I've found an '82, no idea the price yet (offered $55), it is in the Eastern US (so shipping will be about $20) as long as the Supra AFM weighs less than 4 lbs packaged.

I just got the tracking number for mine thru UPS and it's says its a 4 lbs package.

I'm going to use an cone filter on mine till I figure out if I'm going to run a snorkle or not. I still have to swap the battery to the other side still.

The toyota cressida which was mass produced has the same MAF in it as well. complete plug and play. I have a MAF out of a 1990 4 cam, way bigger throat, rectangular box so you can install a high flow filter. Do those swaps and i will guarantee you 10 to 15hp to the wheels .

I doubt the AFM going to net 15hp- that's an extra 20% hp compared with the stock 80bhp or so.

I'm using a smallish cone type filter that I got at Napa. It's a Spectre I think.
