Thats one hell of a mod man, one badass looking truck. Im interested in doin the same type of deal not so much for offroading, but for spottin the deer around here on the side of the road and for blinding the fools who can't seem to find the switch to turn off thier high beams while coming down these country roads at nite!

man, i really like that setup you got there...

the only problem that i see with it is that if i wanted to plumb in a snorkle thru the fender, and i do, i wont be able to have the drivers side light...

Yeah, you got it. I run Hella 500 Amber fogs year round, for being able to see in blizzards, and for spotting the deer in the woods BEFORE they get to the road. It's saved me a couple times.

They have a terrific flat, wide pattern. I really like them.

Yeah I saw that setup on your trucks, looks real bright. Anyways here's a little more info on the wiring, it was hard to get a good picture so I’ll try to explain it…

The relay is mounted to the firewall next to the wiper motor.


Here is the power (black wire) going to the drivers side light, same as passengers side.


Sorry for the bad pic. You’re looking at the top door hinge on the passenger side. The power is zip tied to the hinge, then loops around the mounting tab for the quarter panel. I used a male/female plug to connect the power so I'd be able to remove the lights.


I was able to ground the light to the bracket (blue wire). You can also see the power going through the gap.

If you don't want your wires to run to the door seam. You can pop the little triangular panel that hides the bolts for the mirror (on the inside) and I'm pretty sure you can run them to your door umbilical (if you have power windows/locks). If not you can make one real easy, all the holes are there, just capped. Just a little bit of drilling into your mirror mount and some extra wire.
My two cents.


The cops don't like any lights that are "steerable" that can be used for "spotting". Make sure they are locked down and not "steerable".

did DRock ever post up pics of what just the rear view lights look lit up at night - from the driver seat preferably? I'd be interested in seeing how the reflection is off the hood and how much of the beam pattern is blocked by the body

I would loom those wires or at least tie/tape them as you don't want to risk them being frayed.
