the cylinder walls was rusty he sen tme a pic. the HG was broken in two places IIRC. but that was on the original motor, the one thats in it now is a used one out of a 95 with 120k. i had to drive it to work today, i checked teh oil when i got home. between puttin oil in it yesterday, drivin it about 20-25mi between yesterday and today, it had dropped down 1/4 on the dipstick. thats like a quart 1/2 im figuring. adn it was jet black.i went to put my fuel filter on my 85 and realized one of the plugs for the EFI that pugs into the inner fender was unplugged. pulgged it up, problem solved. i feel pretty stupid

i edited post #24 but i must not have saved it or sumn. maybe a mod changed it fro some reason cuz i had a pic linked and everything???????? anyways teh "plug" i was talkin about that plugs to the inner fender had nothin to do with it. it just plugs to hold it steady. it was just a kawinky dink it strated when i did that. i tried the jumper wire, no luck. didnt get my filter put on. i jacked up the front end to take the tire off. and holy rusty lug nuts. so i said heck with it. ill have to spray them with a rust penetrator

If you decide to rebuild the tranny yourself... this article I wrote may help:
http://www.4x4wire.com/toyota/tech/r151f/

Marlin no longer sells rebuild kits but they can be gotten - 1/2 price no less - from here:

no i decided against the cam. there resurfacing it all, new gaskets timin chain timin guides rods bearing seals pistons oil pump yada yada, everything interenally is gettin replaced. so itll pretty much be brand new. jsu tfound out today my intake plenum is broken. the bracket that bolts to the engine, that has 4? bolts to it is broken fro some reason. the peice between the 2 inner bolts. at firs twe thougt it had been cut, but the more we looked, its definately been broken off. so there was 2 bolts not holdin that on. but its gettin replaced also

just picked up the yota today. man what a feelin.. bored .20 over, stock everything else. and now i got teh 35x12.50s on it and it pulls the 35s better then it did the 33s with the worn out engine. i pick up speed and accelerate pretty dag on good now im reallllly suprised. and the Marlin clutch is just awesome. when it grabs it grabs. i think my tranny was feelin crappy cuz of the bad clutch. it was wore down to the buttons almost. teh truck runs a whole lot quiter, tighter, more power, teh list goes on. the block and head was suppose to be blue with a flat black valve cover, but they forgot and painted it liek they do all teh other engines, gloss black head and block, gun metal grey valve cover. but i would HIGHLY recommend teh MC 1800ft lbs clutch. the push in is a tiny bit stiffer but once you push it in once you dont even notice it much again. pics will be up later its rainin right now

oh yea i kno some of yall are gonna want to kno how much it run me, $1833.00 with tax, which in tenn is like .09%, takin out the engine, remachinin, resurfacin, rebuilding, parts, labor for rebuildin it, install new clutch, and puttin the motor back in. i dont think it was to awful bad. plus the price of the clutch, oil, filter, intake from a junkyard.

if you can find the name of that place it would be awsome!!! im kinda paranoid about the rebuild cause in the wrong hands it could go south real quick. i've been lookin for a decent long block option. thx
