Rear window switch wiring question
My rear window won't work with the key switch in the tailgate, it'll work fine with the dash switch though. Does anyone have an accurate wiring diagram for this? The FSM only shows 3 wires at the switch but mine has 5.
Cheers!

Just replaced my rear window relay module. As they said it is located behind the interior panel. If you put your tailgate down and pulll the panel off on the drivers side you can feel around in there. Its located back aways toward the tail light area. There are 2 bolts that hold it on so you will need to pull the trim back to get to them.
Ive got money on this module for your problem as well. When you turn your key can you hear the relay clicking? They run about $30-$50 on ebay. Ive seen one on there for awhile. Make sure you pull out your and get the numbers off it because there are a few. I found mine at the junkyard for $8. Fixed all of the problems.

Mine worked with a smashed tailgate, after I replaced it, nothing, not with switch or key. Then put in old stuff and still nothing. Everything else works back there, wiper, washer, defroster... guess I'll try another module ?

Did you pull your switch from the old hatch??
Did you check with multimeter to see if the switch on the replacement hatch is any good??
If you swapped the key switch in the hatch maybe the switch contacts were just dirty enough not to work .
Real likely if the lock cylinder had been pulled out for any length of time.

2 of the 5 wires at the connector about 8" from the switch are for the plate lights (white w/black stripe and green w/ blue stripe) the solid blue one is a common to the keyswitch and the blue/white and blue/black wires go to the module behind the driver's seat to lower and raise the window. Check for continuity through the switch between the blue and either the blue/white or blue/black depending on the position of the key. If the switch is good, check for continuity between the connector near the switch and the connector near the left tailight. If good then it is probably the module. I got lucky and found one from an '89 runner for $5 from the local yard (real lucky!)

Just searched high and low in the back corner and can not find any module . Am I blind ? Only things I see back there are the jack, washer bottle, and the plug that comes from the tailgate into the harness headed back up front .

you gotta pull the panel behind the driver's seat and you will see it bolted to the support. it's a rectangular box with 13 wires going to it. right next to it will be a round relay for the rear window defroster (if so equipped)

OK, was under the impression it was in the LR corner by the taillights based on a previous post. Have to move a bunch'o'crap outta the way to get to it.... have a mobile wash and detail set up in the back of the runner ! Thanks !!

any one know how to wire the inside switch to be always hot? All I would really have to do is run wires off the battery to the switch correct and use the wires That I have ran from the window direct. Least thats what I think its kinda hill billie wiring but I have no choice the truck has an electrical nightmare gonna have to rewire the whole truck soon.

My 87 does the exact same thing. Rear window works by the interior switch, but not with the key. So, I am going to pull the relay out and see if I can find another one....
