i am interested in brakes too. mine need replacing everything. good advice on the epoxy between the caliper and pad. i am looking on ebay for rotors. found a good set for less than 100 bucks shipped. drilled
i plan on getting oem or using autopartswarehouse to do the drums, since i cannot find them online.
pads, i guess ill go with ceramic or probably the napa ones.
but damn, the napa out here is expensive. same part across the street at pep boys is 8 bucks cheaper.

don't know if it's coincidence or not but vatozone/pepboys/csk all seem to use the same disappearing heat/light sensitive receipt paper at the their checkout counters.
might be better off keeping those warranty papers in the freezer.

quick question. i looked in both the online oem catalogs listed above, but none have any parts for my 95 4runner as far as brakes go.

Went looking for a store to order my rotors today. No one could get the Brembo's. The told me that the Brembo factory was back ordered.
So I went ahead and ordered the premium rotors from NAPA and a set of Akebono Pads with the shim kit.
I wanted to make sure I could change them out this weekend or I would have held out for the Brembos. Hopefully the NAPAs will do me well. I think that the cold around here also messes up the rotors too. Not to mention all the salt has to do something to them.
Thanks
Again for all the info guys. This site always makes me feel more educated about making these types of judgements.

I got mine at NAPA. I installed me brakes today and I found out that I got the NAPA Ultra Premium rotors. The seem to be quality. There very nicely machined. The pads seem to be of good quality as well. The shims have a nive self adhesive backing. I would have gone for a test drive but the rust struck again. While disconnecting the brake line from the caliper the line snapped. I guess it will have to wait until monday when I can order a new line from the stealership. Bummer.

Turning rotors
I'm in need of new brake pads and have decided to go with the ceramic ones. The original rotors are in good shape and were used with the OEM pads. Do I need to get the rotors turned, thinking that the orginal brake pads have embeded particles into the rotor material?

I noticed a decent bit of doubt in here about what's quality and what's not. I can tell you that you will have no doubt or nothing to worry about if you just went ahead and bought the OEM stuff. Yeah you might be able to find some aftermarket brands that work, but if you like to keep life simple. Sure maybe a bit more money but when you're talking about a piece of safety equipment, on top of the fact that the OEM ones are proven to last, it will save you money in the long run.

Autozone keeps all warranty info in their database. Went to get an alternator and upon asking my dad found out that he had bought one with a lifetime warranty 10 years earlier so they gave us a new one and we were out the door without paying a penny. (of course we had the old alt. with us for the core)
