I was thinking it might be fun to just do the whole truck haha. Who needs paint when you can have polished sheetmetal?

as long as that would take, it might look cool!

finish it off with 2000 grit, and just spray it with clean coat, and BAM!

I'm guilty too... And as TN said, it gets all crappy looking after about a month. I'd try to strip all the grease off of it with some acetone and spray clear on it if I were you. Once the engine is put together you won't be able to do it.

well hell, before paint, both my upper and lower manifold's looked quite similar; but of course I only have a pre-paint pic of my lower manifold

you wanna talk about something that's a PITA to clean...

granted it's not polished, but it still takes a long time...

and they turned out like so:

haha yeah i can still see the casting surface dimples and stuff, mine is a lil smoother lol so it shouldnt collect so much dirt and stuff i hope. i almost just sanded the letters completely off because it was a pita to sand and polish all around them, i did take off the double ridge part though......right where the flat part in the middle meets the part where the letters are

i still neeed the inside cleaned, i think ima take it to a machine shop for that but idk i got most of the larger deposits out so idk how much the rest will effect the performance. there was like 1/3 of an inch of buildup where the egr comes in

What about the build up on the inside? Can that be cleaned up a bit on the truck or will debris falling down into the lower part and eventually into the cumbustion chamber do any damage? I just took off my throttle body to clean it up and address the TPS.

I couldn't believe what I found behind it. Its like thick, moist brownie residue stuck to the pan. Comes off with the finger but I want to spray some throttle body cleaner in there and see metal again. Is this a good idea?

Idk I would take it off to clean it. But some tb cleaner can't hurt really, I would use that but don't go. Scrapin away, there's a lot o stuff in there. But even with it off its near impossible to get all that out. Its all just exhaust deposits. Uuugggh.

was that to mee? i wanted to get my heads ported and get o/s valves but i couldnt justify 850$ for like 10 hp maybe. it just aint worth it, ima be fine withe headers and cams i think. eventuall im get a 3.4 so i just want my 3.0 to last untill i can do that...i might do some gasket matching though. would just use a dremel with an aluminum oxide grinder ? or i could prob use a drill
