Oil filter maddnes.....!!!!
i cant seem to get a straight answer out of these parts guys...i work for a car dealership that has toyota as one of our franchises and we've got toyota lookup at my hyundai and subaru dealership. I look up, with my vin number punched in, an oil filter and through a series of supercessions in the look up it comes up with a 90915-YZZD1 which is made in thailand, as the last filter superceding. When i call up and just order one they send me a 90915-YZZG1 which in the past i've gotten a 08922-02011 and when i asked him hey said that number supercedes to the G1. I had a D1 sent over for comparison and for some reason they send me a 90915-YZZB9 which is completely different and seems to be made in japan, they say that number turns into teh D1 but is no longer available. so my question is are all tehse filters compatable with my 95 22RE?
these supercessions are for sure because i watched him type these in
08922-02011>>90915-YZZG1
90915-20003>>90915-YZZB9>>90915-YZZD1
90915-YZZD1=90915-YZZG1????? possibly different manufacturers? (thailand vs USA)??
Why cant they just have one filter and be done with it!!!

Yep...........That is toyota's stress test for Parts people. The numbers do indeed supercede all over the place and that is usually based on demand. Toyota still sources their parts from several vendors and this is very common. They will all work in your vehicle and if it was still in warranty it would be covered. I hope this helps...........

thanks for the info, I must admit though this YZZB9 is unlike any otehr filter i've seen. the media looks almost like a sponge. can we still get these anywhere?

Even the bigger filter that xrefs to some of the latter V8 motors will screw on the side of a 22re...
I'm using a Supertech (made by Champion) ST16 (same as a Fram ph16) on mine which is over 50% bigger than a 3614 and it fit with room to spare. The threads are the same and the oring gasket are the same, it's just bigger around.
I think one of the toyota filters is the same size but I duno which one.

There is basically two sizes around. The difference is in the check valve and the amount of oil that it holds. The other exception is the new canister style paper filter on some of the new Toyotas.
