Mystery Part off an 88 4Runner Rubber cap with Snaps
Hey all,
My login still works!
Feels good to be back. This always used to be such an excellent forum many years ago when I was active.
I used to own a 92 4Runner and I just picked up an 88 From Georgia.
It came with a lot of used and new parts in boxes.
Among them was this mysterious rubber cap with snaps. It's oddly familiar like I have had one in my hands before.
Any help identifying it would be much appreciated.
Also I probably shouldn't assume it's related to the truck. It could be something completely non-automotive or for another car. There were a few used BMW Brake pad wear sensors in with the boxes of parts.

That might be the cover for the distributor cap, I have seen some 22res with those before, mine never had one, so not certain. I believe the purpose is to keep water out of the distributor cap.

Thank you both.
It makes sense why I couldn't make sense of it.
The PO kept the truck remarkably stock except for the installation of a SS exhaust including SS headers.
I imagine that they were concerned about the heat resistance of the factory plug wires. The currently installed plug wires are straight boot not 90deg angled boots.
So this cap will not fit at the moment.
I think I will keep it for now. Thanks for the offer though. I imagine they are modestly valuable as the part is no longer made?

Those are hard to find. Rare in Calif. I think it came on a "cold weather package".
