ceramic coat, armor coat, are either one gonna hold up well in salty air and road salt sitting on em?

See if Pacesetter would recoat them if they rust out just as fast. I can assume what you're answer is gonna be.

I'm not biassed either way, I just want to get a quality product for my money and being a Mass resident I know that any stainless steel exhaust piping should last AT LEAST a few winters without rusting that badly. I'm just saying. Maybe the LCE headers are a good choice for people on the west coast I don't know. Don't bust my balls, I'm just trying to make an educated purchase here. That said, I take my truck to the car wash in the winter at least a few times a month and spray it down so maybe the rust issue wouldn't be as big of a deal for me.

Both me and John from LC engineering agreed that it may have been a defect somehow in the coating, that is why he agreed to do what he did for me, again he was very very nice. I always wash the bottom of my truck of becuase I am aware that I live where they do salt the roads, and it is the #1 contributing factor to rust. His jaw literally dropped when he saw the pictures after only three months of use, and was very quick to respond to my problem.

Did you get the stainless steel headers or pay more for ceramic? As I understand stainless will hold up better than ceramic coated. Someone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. Kiyo, I've done alot of research on headers in the past few days and people seem to be complaining about pacesetter's rusting as well and pacesetter agreed to have them sent back and re-coated same situation as yours

I don't think anyone is busting your balls, I think all of us have been in the same spot as you buying a header. Its something you want to do once, so you want to get it right. Just look at the flange thickness, tube thickness, etc. And if your coating is bad, they will fix it for you. If you search for Thorley headers, alot of good things said as well. OBX headers are fairly new (22re at least) a handful of guys have got them and had good results but there are no 10 year old ones to reference like Roger Brown's (who's LCE headers are still perfect)

I think whatever you pick you are gonna be fighting the rust monster. With that said, pick whatever you want, but keep us posted how yours hold up, whatever brand they might be.

Not sure how the stainless would hold up in the salty air vs. the ceramic coating. Maybe you should guinea pig it for us and post up the results.

I want the LCE Street headers which to the best of my knowledge are just stainless steel. I think I would be disapointed spending more money and having them rust like that in one winter is all. Maybe, I'll buy the LCE's and hit them with a few coats of paint before I throw them in, I would think that would help because out here rust travels fast.

It says stainless tubing, but its coated too. Its not shiny stainless bare metal like the OBX's

I talked to the guy on the phone for a while about this. the whole prediciment why he couldn't just replace the exhaust for me was becuase LCE sends the exhaust systems to another location to get ceramic coated.. I Talked to him on the phone yesterday and he said that my exhaust was being sent to get coated. hopefully it will be back sooon!!

So, they are ceramic coated then? That helps with heat but I don't know about the rust situation, from what little reading I've done on the web plain stainless steel is better when it comes to rust. Honestly, I'd rather have the coating to help with heat etc.

i would recommend a magnaflow highflow cat.. and some sort of high quality magnaflow muffler becuase you are coughing up the $$$ for an awesome header! might as well make it perfect
