i think so, smaller market for aftermarket plus a decent number on a chart on your product equals a decent number of items sold. eh?

alright i stated earlier in the thread that i have the full intake that i can do prelim mock-ups on, my next question is should i make the spacer in two SEPERATE pieces(3 runners X 3 runners) or should i make it one piece?

if i do one full piece, i could build that as a mild heat sink between the halves(like a harley motor, with the fins on the sides) and possibly cool intake temps a little....

or the two halves would help seperate heat also wouldnt it?

thoughts???

I like the heat sink idea very much. If some fins could be thrown into the design that may be the way to go.

I guess i would build it as 2 separate pieces. I feel like that would keep it the coolest.

you think the heat sink idea might help with overheating also, or just intake temps?

i believe the amount of performance gained by cooling the intake temps by a couple degrees is going to be exponentially small lol

i'd still be up for testing this out if you want!!!

my intake will have to come off again sometime anyway and i can have it off within a couple minutes lmao i've taken it off about 10 times

i think that it may have an effect on intake temps since it could displace heat from where that air is moving. Overheating.... if any positive effect at all it would be so small i would just forget about it, i'm sure it wont do a darn thing. are you worried about overheating for some reason?

overheating as in the spacer causing overheating? no no. the idea of possible cooling effect on the motor could be used as a sales pitch as well. HAHA

ive never had a problem with overheating in my truck, as long as i keep enough coolant in it...... ah ha ha.

the temperatures were only a thought... thats all.

i think the "off topic reference was directed more towards the 22r question.....

as for swapping mafs, i have thought about it, but it seems like there is a lot of contradicting info on which ones will swap. and which will not, as well as tuning, complications, etc etc etc...... its one of those things to me that if there was a great write up on how to do it, with correct part numbers, or even a CLOSE to plug and play setup, i would consider it.

anyways, this is a great thread, i was considering swapping my engine in about 3 years but if this proves fruitful i may stay with the 3V

how much potential would you say the 3VZE might have in general? (i know its a broad question but use your imagination)

btw i really don't have much experience with cars but i know i like my 4runner and offroading (i tread very lightly)

i read a thread a whil back saying that the 3vz that Ivan Stewart drove for baja had around 400 horses..... of course that is with the DEEEP pockets of toyota and proper off road engineering.... REALISTICALLy... i would say you could squeeze 200 out of a fairly stock 3v.... many people have had good success turboing the engine because of the crossover, although i am not sure of horsepower estimates..... a guy on 4x4 wire or ih8mud.com, IIRC, said that his SAS 93? sitting on 35s was as fast as his wife's STOCK 06 taco.... i think he was utilizing a turbo out of a GNX with intercooler and the full setup. the horese are all a matter of how much cash you wanna put into it...

im happy going slow to me, i'm satisfied with my 3vze because i know that if i wanted a lot of power i would start with a new motor. I have never seen one of these motors built that made me think "wow! for all the money into that chunk of metal, the gains are totally worth it!"
