Aye yotatech bros, quick question that hopefully someone can help me with. Does anyone know what kind of adhesive is used to bond the under hood support structure to the hood? Like the ribbing that is under the hood. Mine has gotten old and cracked up and now the support is floppy causing parts to crack and the hood to sag. I’ve welded the cracks and it helped but it’s happening again because the adhesive blobs aren’t stuck anymore. I really don’t want to get a fiberglass hood.

I tried some 3M weather strip adhesive and it only lasted about a month. Hopefully someone knows the oem stuff or something close.

There’s a two part 3M adhesive for this. I used it on mine. Not cheap.

@Melrose 4r Happen to have a name of it for me? Even if it’s a little pricey that’s fine, I just want something that’ll last.

Had to look it up…It’s 3m body panel adhesive 08115.
there is a special gun and nozzle that mixes it.
I bought it at a body shop supply store and they loaned me the gun.

Found it for $150, not bad if it’ll last. Has it held up well to the heat under the hood? I don’t have any kind of insulation mat under my hood. Actually I don’t think any old yotas have that.

Yes, it holds up. I think it is as good as OEM and used for other bodywork purposes mostly. Good luck!

I would think something as simple as a clear silicone adhesive would work from the local auto parts store for about 5 dollars. As long as the surface is clean that you're adhering to, there should be no problem with it staying there and will certainly last in the heat of the engine bay

I tried regular silicone caulk and it only held for about a year.
I used Liquid Nails adhesive after that and it's held. About 3 years so far.
I did ponder self leveling adhesive caulk, the stuff used to seal vents on rv roofs. that stuff seems to stick to anything, i just wasn't sure if it would "flatten out" and not fill the gap between the ribs and the actual hood panel.

Liquid nails might be a good option too. I wonder what kind of heat it can handle though. My hood gets warm enough to steam in the cold when it’s raining and I’m sitting still, even though I don’t have an overheating problem.
